12.05.06 | Official Launch For Alienation FORT

Friday May 12th sees the official launch of Alienation FORT in Fife after a successful eight month trial of the product by Fife Council’s Fife Rights Forum.

The system allows a client to be referred from one advice agency (statutory or voluntary) to any other advice agency. Any agency (voluntary or statutory) can sign up to use the system (all they require is web access and email) and can start accepting and making referrals after some basic training.

In Fife the Alienation FORT system is supported by a web-based service directory (with details of over 230 Fife-based advice agencies) and a commitment by agencies to find the most appropriate service for a client, badged under the Fife Advice Promise: "If we can't help you, we'll find someone who can".

The system is especially useful for any specialist agency where referral is a key part of their service. The FORT system could also be used by a wide range of advisors from elected members to social workers and GP’s.

Often, agencies are not sufficiently knowledgeable of other agencies in their area. Fort allows agencies to search for other agencies by their area of specialism. Ultimately, the client ends up in the correct hands.

Commenting on Fort, Neil Barr, Alienation Design’s Managing Director:
Working so closely with Fife Rights Forum in the system’s development has been invaluable and has also meant we have already seen the real life benefits the system can bring to a network or organisation.

The successful trial in Fife has generated a huge amount of interest from other Council’s as the system is inline with the core objectives set out by the Scottish Executive’s Efficient Government Initiative.

Fort is just one of a suite of products available from Alienation Design that includes Emu, Appoint and Publish. A guide to Fort is available at www.alienationfort.co.uk. Further information is available from David Johnstone on 0141 575 9700.
